The Spring of Prince Syndrome - Chapter 9

Tan Ruikang still didn’t know what had happened, and so when the girl came the next day to return the book and told him her name was Chi Xiaojun, Tan Ruikang magnanimously said: “I’ll help you give it to Xiao Yuan, he’s my didi.” “Ah.” Chi Xiaojun stood outside the classroom door, not knowing whether to go or to stay. She finally had a chance to talk to him, how could she let someone else return the book for her? In the end Zhang Zhen helped her out big time by yelling out: “Milk Boy, your wife is here!” The entire class went into an uproar, and Yaoyuan came over to take the English textbook, blushing. Chi Xiaojun’s face had also turned red, and said: “Here’s your book.” “I’ll give you this to read.” Yaoyuan handed her Jimmy Liao’s When the Moon Forgot , Chi Xiaojun nodded, the two exchanged a few more words, and then she left. “Milk Girl!” [1] “Is it Milk Girl?” Immediately people were giving Chi Xiaojun a nickname, and Qi Huiyu, clearly jealous, said: “H

The scores weren’t out yet on the first day after the mid-term exams, but the teacher went ahead and worked through the questions on them with the class. Yaoyuan’s heart was thumping wildly, and marked a 122 on the English exam questionnaire. There were still 25 marks for the essay that haven’t been added, so that means if he gets 18 points for the essay, he’ll have a 140 in English! [1] That score would surely be the highest in the class! He looked at Lin Zibo out of the corner of his eye, trying to guess Lin Zibo’s score, then began to filter out the remaining scores of potential competitors in his mind: Wang Fan the Math Representative, Jiang Tingting the bookworm, Ye Nan the Literature Representative…  “How many did you get wrong for the reading comprehension?” the classmate diagonally to the left asked Yaoyuan. “Three… Three.” Actually Yaoyuan didn’t get a single one wrong, and guiltily asked in return: “How about you?” “Then you’re probably the number one f

Yaoyuan finished solving the last major problem, the bell rang, and anguished wailing resonated through the exam room, a sound filled with a tired resentment and dissatisfaction that reached the sky. “Oh god—” After handing in the exam, Lin Zibo was the first to yell: “I’m done for ahhhhh! My computer’s going to get locked again!!” “It’s over—why is it so hard—” “Oh my god—” Yaoyuan asked: “Did you finish? Is the answer for the last question 80?” Lin Zibo said in grief: “I finished, but I messed up on three of the major questions! It is 80.” “I did all the multiple choice questions wrong!” the Math Representative yelled. Yaoyuan comforted them: “I also did a lot of the multiple choice wrong, I even did two of the last two major questions wrong.” A few people left, but the majority were still shouting like crazy inside the exam room, like they were putting on a show of evil spirits dancing in riotous revelry. The Spring of Prince Syndrome - Chapter 6

When autumn came officially and the school uniforms became long-sleeved, Tan Ruikang had already gotten to know quite a few people in the class. All the classmates liked him a lot, including Zhang Zhen. After school Zhang Zhen often called on Tan Ruikang to play soccer together, which gave Yaoyuan a feeling of having his friend stolen, pissing him off. Tan Ruikang could keep up with the class—during the period he dropped out he did some self-study, and he basically understood all the math, physics and chemistry, especially chemistry. Practically the entire back half of the class was copying his homework, and he became another big supplier of homework answers in addition to Yaoyuan and the Study Representative, Lin Zibo.  After class when everyone was taking a nap at their desk, Tan Ruikang would even take the initiative to clean up around the garbage can in the class, picking up the papers and trash that had missed the bin. If anyone asked him for anything he always granted t
